GETNUMBER() Description

The GETNUMBER() function is designed for extracting numbers from text.

Main Characteristics of the GETNUMBER Function

Syntax:

=GETNUMBER(Text; Entry)

Parameters:

• Text: Text with numbers from which numbers should be extracted.
• Entry: The ordinal number (occurrence) of the desired number. It can also have a negative value, which will mean searching for the occurrence from the end of the string. With a value of 0 - it returns all occurrences.

Example of Usage

The GETNUMBER() function is easy to use. You just need to enter any text with numbers and specify the ordinal number of the desired number, and Excel (Calc) will automatically return the specified occurrence:

=GETNUMBER(Text; Entry)

We will get the following result:

In this example, the following values are used:

• Text: A3 - Text from which numbers should be extracted ("Invoice #100235/001").
• Entry: B3 - Display all occurrences (0).
