Save sheets as separate workbooks
Sheet > Save sheets as workbooks
With this utility, you can save all or selected sheets in your workbook as separate files.
You can choose the folder where you want to save the worksheets.
Worksheets will be saved in "Workbook Excel (*.xlsx)" format.

Do you recognize any of these situations?
- I have a file. Excel (Calc) with many sheets. We need to export each sheet to a separate file. Ideally the file name would be the sheet name. Is this possible? Using the option "Save as" on the menu "File" , I have to save each sheet manually.
- I have a workbook with a lot of sheets. I need to save each of these sheets into a separate file. Is this possible through Excel (Calc) or with additional software?
- I have a file that contains many sheets. Each sheet contains personal information and is named after that person. In order to send the sensitive information to a person, I need to separate the worksheet from all other sheets and name the workbook (with one sheet) after that person. Without a macro, I have to do this many times (unfortunately!). So my question is, does anyone know of a macro that can split a workbook with "x" sheets into "x" files and give that file the name of that specific worksheet?
- The sheets I copy to save as a new file have cells that contain more than 255 characters. When I copy the sheet, only the first 255 characters in each cell are copied. How can I copy all the information? I need to do this on 16 sheets.
- I would like to use a macro to split a workbook with multiple tabs into separate workbooks (one workbook for each tab) with the tab name as the filename of the new workbook. It would be great if the references to external files were converted before splitting the workbook.
Quick solution
Just use the next tool in the menu Excel (Calc) :
YLC Utilities » Sheet » Save sheets as workbooks
This is much faster than manually copying the sheets into a new workbook and then saving each one.
