Save worksheets as separate workbooks

Sheet > Save sheets as workbooks...

With this utility, you can save all or selected sheets in your workbook as individual files.

You can choose the folder where you want to save the worksheets.

Worksheets will be saved in "Workbook Excel (*.xlsx)" format.

Do you recognize any of these situations?

• I have a file LO Calc with many sheets. We need to export each sheet to a separate file. Ideally, the file name would be the sheet name. Is this possible? Using the Save As option in the File menu, I have to save each sheet manually.
• I have a sheet with many sheets. I need to save each of these sheets as separate files. Is this possible through LO Calc or with additional software?
• I have a file that contains many sheets. Each sheet contains personal information and is named after that person. To send sensitive information to a person, I need to separate the worksheet from all other sheets and name the workbook (with one sheet) after the person's name. Without the macro, I have to do this many times (unfortunately!). So my question is, does anyone know of a macro that can split a workbook of x sheets into x files and give that file the name of that particular worksheet?
• The sheets I copy to save as a new file contain cells that contain more than 255 characters. When I copy the sheet, only the first 255 characters in each cell are copied. How can I copy all the information, it has to be done on 16 sheets.
• I would like to use a macro to split a workbook with many tabs into separate workbooks (one workbook per tab) with the name of the tab as the filename of the new workbook. It would be great if links to external files were converted before splitting the book.

Quick solution

Just use the following tool in the LO Calc menu:

YLC Utilities » Sheet » Save sheets as workbooks...

This is much faster than manually copying the sheets into a new workbook and then saving each one.

How much time will it save?

Using this tool, you are guaranteed to save time and effort. However, the actual time savings depends on how often you use LibreOffice Calc, the amount of data you work with, and how often you use the tool.
