Move the minus sign from the end to the beginning
Number > Move minus sign from back to front (e.g. 47- to -47)
This utility corrects numbers that have a trailing minus for negative numbers.
For example, a number like "47-" will be converted to "-47", so this is a number that recognizes LO Calc and which you can use in your calculations.
This utility is especially useful when you need to deal with certain imported text files, as some (financial) systems display negative numbers with a minus sign at the end.

Do you recognize any of these situations?
- I downloaded a report that shows the following negative numbers: 123.25– . How can I make the negative symbol appear on the left?
- When using copy and paste from AS400 to LO Calc Negative numbers are not recognized as negative because the negative sign remains on the right side of the number. Is there a simple way to flip the minus sign from the right side of a number to the left?
- Our production system extracts negative numbers in a strange way (at least to me). For example, displays -134 as 0000134- (for positive it is simply displayed 134 ). What formula can I write to convert it to -134 and remove leading zeros and move the "-" sign to the front?
- I am importing a report. COBOL in LO Calc , and in this report, negative numbers have a negative sign at the end. To use cells that contain negative numbers in a formula LO Calc , the number must be preceded by a negative sign. In order to be able to write formulas using these cells, I need to change the cells with negative numbers to put a minus sign in the first position.
Besides changing each cell manually (which I did), is there any way to do this reformatting using a macro or something?
- We received the file. LO Calc , which contains negative numbers with a minus sign at the end (instead of the beginning). This is a list of cash transactions from a cash register. Is there a way to reformat only those numbers (there are tens of thousands of transactions) that have a trailing negative sign to make them negative?
How much time will this save?
Using this tool will definitely save you time and effort. However, the actual time savings will depend on how often you use it. LO Calc , the amount of data you work with, and how often you use this tool.
